The United Martial Arts Centers offer a unique program that is the answer for children’s after school needs while they develop skills that will last a lifetime. This is the After-school Martial Arts Program (AMP).
The AMP is a program that is a constructive alternate to after-school care for parents who work. Our society today is a society where the majority of families are forced to have parents work to make ends meet. Therefore, there needs to be a place for their children to be after school until they come home from work. Typically, the children would go to an after-school program and hang out, maybe play some games, run around.
Our AMP is the solution for all of the after-school needs. We have developed a program where the children are transported by our own buses to the location nearest you right after school. They will then be their at the Taekwondo school until the parents pick them up at 6:00. During the time that they are there, they will learn the Korean Art of Taekwondo and all of the values that go with it in our special Character Enrichment Program. All of the Martial Arts Classes are based on the five Tenets of Taekwondo. They are, “Perseverance, Self-control, Indomitable Spirit, Courtesy, and Humility.” All of our AMP students are learning these values and how they apply in other areas of their lives. For example, our students will show more respect in and out of school, their grades will improve, they will develop confidence and the yes I can attitude, and more. Remember, it is not daycare, it is LIFE care.
Included in our AMP/Character Enrichment Program, all students receive a take home cassette to review the values that were taught in class that week. This way the parents could reinforce what is being taught at in the AMP Program with their children. If the children are hearing these values at UMAC and at home, the impact will be that much stronger.
An additional advantage to our AMP Program is that it includes full day program on most school holidays, parent/teacher conference days, half days, and any day that the child has no school. We know that the parents have to work, we at UMAC want to make it as easy as possible so all of the non holiday days are taken care of. All of these benefits with no additional cost to the parents. The After-school Program also rolls right into full day summer camp that starts as early as 7:30 am and ends at 6:00 pm.
